Promoting Maritime Synergies with IOTC

Ambassador Eduardo Young Virzi paid a courtesy visit to Island Overseas Transport Corporation (IOTC), one of the country’s key maritime and manning agencies, on 10 June 2025. The Chief of Mission was accompanied by Vice Consul Antonio Ramos Ostia, who recently joined the Panamanian Mission in the Philippines. Their visit aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the maritime industry and recognize the contributions of Filipino seafarers working aboard Panama-flagged vessels.
During the meeting, the Ambassador and Vice Consul engaged in meaningful discussions with IOTC executives on shared initiatives, including the promotion of seafarers’ welfare and the continued excellence of Panama’s maritime registry. Both parties expressed mutual interest in further collaboration to enhance training, compliance, and recognition of maritime labor standards.
This visit reflects Panama’s ongoing commitment to strengthening diplomatic and industry partnerships in the Philippines, particularly in the maritime sector, where both countries share a longstanding and strategic relationship.
